Hello! I’m Rafael Roldan
As a dedicated student of many sages both from East and West for more than 25 years now, he has practiced many spiritual, religious, mystical and esoteric paths, always up to their completeness. Through a pragmatic method of cultural archaeology, he has distilled ancient teachings into an effective context for ultimate awakening and a better life in this world, for oneself and for others.
With a style of transmitting authentic teachings in ways that are playful, cheerful, down-to-earth, accessible and, most important of all, relevant to the urban humans of the 21st century.

Can any person practice this method?
Our method can be practiced by any healthy individual. If you are dealing with a serious medical condition, we advise to counsel with a healthcare professional before attempting any of our techniques.
We advise against practicing if you are dealing with any of the following:
• Severe mental disorders
• High blood pressure (in case of prescription medication)
• Coronary heart disease
• A history of serious health issues like heart failure or stroke
What is the difference between mindfulness and meditation?
Simply put, correct mindfulness is the correct use of full attention to prepare your mind for the meditative states, especially the natural state.
Is this a religion or a mystic path?
Joystate, as a secular and practical organization, is religion-free (even though we have a sacred view), non-sectarian and welcome people of all creeds and inclinations to join us.
Although we base our methods in the wisdom of ancient traditions distilled through a work of cultural archaeology and even offer some practical courses in Tantric Buddhism, all our content is secular.
There is no need for belief here. We work upon knowledge and with support in scientific research.
Is the method proper for children?
The breathing and other physical techniques can cause dizziness and even loss of consciousness in a child.
Moreover, an infant brain is physically still developing.
Thus, we advise that children under the age of 16 to be supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
What about practicing during pregnancy?
If you are pregnant, we advise against practicing physical or breathing exercises, unless expresslly allowed by your physician.
This is of course a tremendously delicate matter, and we want to be as careful as possible.
When the baby is born, you are safe to resume practicing the more physical practices in our method.
After some time, I feel worse and not well. What is happening?
If this is a more subjective matter, please, keep practicing as it is clearly known that the beginning of practice needs time and persistence to generate good results.
This is true also for some physiological effects in response to breathing and movement, as your body is accomodating to a superior lifestyle.
However, if you are experiencing any ailments or diseases, please, limit the practice of the breathing and other physical exercises – especially the ones that are more intense – until you get better. In the case of increase of bodily pains and the suspicion of medical conditions, please, stop any practices and consult a physician.
Get well soon!
